Default Artifacts Icons Etc.

I've looked around and don't see a clear explanation on how these items work.

I thought I read somewhere in the game guide which came with the game you could attach Artifacts or Icon items to weapons or armour but the only thing that seems possible is holding them in off hand with a one handed weapon in the main.

As for enchanting the only thing I've seen is two guys in the beginers side of the game which will sell you a selected weapon or item for off hand which have enchantments already or take a weapon to the other guy and he adds +20% damage to it.

Am I missing something on how this works?

Please direct me to a link if there is one which describes the differance bettween these items and how they work if it exsists.

Thank you

You can attach runes to your armor and their are upgrades to weapons. You can't attach idols/artifacts/scrolls to your armor.

You don't really buy enchanted items. You get them as drops and or modify a weapon you already have.

The +20% damage is a customization option. Basically you get +20% damage but loose the ability to transfer the weapon to anyone else or sell it.

Ok I've got four characters, the highest being 11 almost 12 and I have yet to even see a rune, if by chance I do find one though is it just a matter of clicking the rune and selecting the armour like how dye is used or more to it?

You say there are upgrades to weapons, well like I said I've yet to see anything other than the crafters who add the +20% damage in either the beginers side or the city and camps which I've been to about five of over the north wall.

The only other enchanted weapons I've seen are the ones sold by crafters and or the drops, but nothing where I can modify and choose what enchantment is put on a weapon.

I don't really get the reason why they have set no transfer of weapons or armour from one to another cause if I have to do it like anyone else has to do it what's the big deal?

There really isn't a whole lot of differance between most of these items either, most all the stat enhancements are so much alike it's almost mondain checking to see what a drop has unless the text color is purple or yellow and I've only found one purple and no yellow text drop items of all four characters and about 40 hours of play.

Oh well famous last words, it's free online play and looks great, missions are ok and I love the dancing with divine effect.

You wont see runes and hilts/hafts/whatever-weapon-parts until later in the game. Basically you will find an item with a prefix or suffix on it, like Sword of Enchanting and there will be a special effect on it, in the example enchantments last longer. You then take an advanced salvage kit (which you can buy later for 400g) and use it on it, you'll have a chance to get a Sword Pommel of Enchanting (or whatever it's called) which you can then use on another sword to give it that effect. Runes work the same way but you will find them on salvage items rather than weapons.

They are rare, I went all the way to level 16 and only found 3 items with a pre/suffix, and only got one rune and one hilt from them. You wont get into weapon and armor customizing until level 20.

The 20% weapon upgrade is by weaponsmiths, this usually costs 10 gold, but it is worth it.

Ok I get it, I guess I was thinking it was going to be more like some of the other RPG's where you find a weapon or armour, find a rune, artifact or something and slap that baby onto it.

It's just I haven't seen a clear discription of what's what in detail so I was a little erked I was missing something but I'll be find now.

Any chance of finding a catapult of our own to pull around and blast the begezzes out of them Charr, their really get on my nerves.

Thanks

I am still confused on this. What are we supposed to do with all these artifacts, idols etc? I thought the manual was decent when i first got the game, now I see how horrible it really is for the lack of information.

The artifacts and idols you refer to are mainly for casters, they take up what would be a shield slot. You cannot gain the benefit of those items when you are wielding a 2-handed weapon such as a staff or bow. Unless they give at least around +7 energy and/or have some extra bonus things with them, the best thing to do is sell them to the merchant or break them down. If they are +7 or better, try to sell them to people.

All idols and artificats can be broken down? I assume with a salvage kit? I have not seen that they are salvageable in their descriptions.

NOT all, but a lot of them. It seems to me the pattern is, if you get one from doing a quest, you usually can't salvage it - but it will usually sell for around 20 gold so that's good.

So there is no point in carrying more than one artifact?

Does the designation Fire, Water, Healing etc have any practical relevance to the artifact?

I have the same question. Is there any difference between these two, other than pixel crack? And would there be some added bonus if they have a higher or lower skill requirement associated with them?

Frost Artifact - Energy +6
Healing Ankh - Energy +6

You get no bonus for putting attribute points into the associated skill. Where the type does get important, however, is a bit later on when you're getting higher bonuses. At this point items will have a requirement on them, such as "Req. 8 Fire Magic". Unless you meet the requirement, they don't give you anywhere near the full amount of energy/armour/damage (they act as starter items, in fact), although any mods still apply. So later on you'll be seeing Frost Artifacts requiring Water Magic, and so on.

To what end is getting something in pre sear or post if you cannot use it til you get to the end. I gotta hang on to something til lvl 20 just to use it. Uhhh why not label it unuseable or make it class specific makes no sense to give it to you at lvl 1 if you gotta wait til lvl 20 to see what effect it has. Here son here is a condom I know your only 2 months old but some day you'll be able to (duh?)
